Bilingual Therapy in San Diego

We are excited to announce that we are now able to offer psychotherapy sessions in not only English, but also Spanish and Vietnamese! At Positive Change Counseling Center we value diversity, cultural awareness and the ability to expand our services to as many clients as possible. We are always interested in adding clinicians to our team who have the passion and skills to treat clients from varying cultural backgrounds.

Thuy-Linh Pham is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who offers therapy in both English and Vietnamese. Thuy received her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Literature/Writing from UCSD. She later went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Counseling, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, from SDSU. She has experience working with youth, adults, and families who have faced a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, concerns with parenting, gender identity issues, anger management, substance use, concerns with aging, self-harm and suicidal ideation, and psychotic disorders. She also collaborates with couples to create a safe space where they can strengthen their relationship by learning skills that promote effective communication, intimacy, and trust.



Julia Ris is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who offers therapy in both English and Spanish. She received a Masters of Science in Multicultural Community Counseling from San Diego State University in 2016. Her areas of expertise include: identity, LGBTQI communities, trauma and grief, culture and ethnicity, difficulty managing emotions & behaviors, anger, mood disorders, relationship challenges, gender therapy, anxiety, depression, mental health stigma, substance use, spirituality and personal growth. Julia works with individuals, couples, and families.




Victoria Sarmiento is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who offers therapy in both English and Spanish. Victoria has over 12 years of experience working with adults, children, adolescents and families with ADHD, Anxiety, High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder, Depression, Trauma and related diagnoses. Victoria received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Boston University and her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. Victoria has extensive training and experience utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Prolonged Exposure, Relaxation Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Imago Therapy.



Nancy Acevedo is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who offers therapy in both English and Spanish. Nancy received her Master’s degree from Pacific Oaks College and has since gained much of her clinical experience working with children, adolescents, transition-aged youths, and families. Nancy routinely incorporates various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief-Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She has experience treating clients who struggle with depression, self-harm and suicidal ideation, anxiety, HIV/AIDS, substance use, grief and loss, LGBTQ related challenges, anger management, and survivors of trauma.



Emily Judge is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who offers therapy in both English and Spanish. Emily enjoys working with children, teens, adults and families. She received her Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Eastern Michigan University and holds professional clinical licenses in both California (LPCC) and Colorado (LPC). Emily has experience in treating a variety of mental health concerns including adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, family disruption, oppositional behaviors and stress related concerns.
